Cornish Yarg and bacon turnovers recipe
Serves 6
Ingredients
1 Sheet ready-rolled
puff pastry
3 tbsp Soft cheese
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
6 Rashers smoked bacon
50g Cheddar cheese
70g Cornish Yarg
1 Egg
Black pepper
Method
- Pre-heat the oven to gas mark 6/200°C. Unroll the sheet of pastry and cut it into 6 equal-sized squares. Combine the soft cheese and dijon mustard together with some black pepper. Spread the mixture evenly across the squares of pastry, smoothing it in a line diagonally from one corner to the other.
- Place a rasher of bacon over the top. Grate the Cornish Yarg and cheddar cheese. Sprinkle the grated cheeses over the rashers of bacon, making sure that each turnover has an even amount. Beat the egg in a cup and brush the corners of the pastry. Fold the bottom left corner and the top right corner over the middle and pinch them together.
- Brush the surfaces with more egg.
- Place the turnovers on a lined baking tray and bake them in the oven for around 25 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese has melted.
