THE CORNISH BLUE STORY:
Cornish Blue is produced in the South West of England on the edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall.
It began life in 2001 when dairy farmers Philip and Carol Stansfield were looking to generate more revenue from the milk being produced on their farm.
Philip enrolled on a cheesemaking course, turned a former bottling plant at the end of the milking parlour into a cheese production facility and Cornish Blue was on its way.
Today the milk that goes into Cornish Blue still all comes from the Holstein Friesian herd on the family farm.
In 2004 Cornish Blue won its first award – The Tesco Cheese Challenge – followed in 2006 with winning Supreme Champion at the Bath and West Show.
Then in 2010 Cornish Blue became the World Champion Cheese.
Other awards have continued to follow including Gold at the 2016 and 2017 International Cheese Awards and being the People’s Choice Winner at the Great British Cheese Awards in 2016 and 2017.
In 2016 the company added two Cornish Blue pates – Cornish Blue with Fig and Cornish Blue with Pear and Walnut.
In 2017 Cornish Nanny was launched – a goats cheese with a Cornish Blue feel to it. Cornish Nanny won International Gold at the Nantwich Cheese Show in 2017.
In January 2018 The Princess Royal opened expanded production facilities on Knowle Farm.
